District Providing Grief Counselors, Student's Wake to be Held in Selden

Update: According to the R.I.P Ryan Baumgartner Facebook page, Ryan's wake will be held at Giove Funeral Home, 1000 Middle Country Road in Selden on Tuesday from 7-9:30 p.m. and Wednesday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9:30 p.m.

Following the tragic death of junior Ryan Baumgartner over the weekend, the district is providing grief counselors at the high school and , where his sister attends.

In addition, guidance counselors are shadowing Ryan's classes Monday throughout the high school to provide support for students.

Baumgartner, who came to the district in the fall of 2011 from Longwood High School, was a early Saturday morning on the William Floyd Parkway in Ridge.

"The Rocky Point School District Administration and Board of Education would like to extend its deepest condolences and prayers to the family and friends of High School junior Ryan Baumgartner during this difficult time," Superintendent Michael Ring said in a statement.
