Rocky Point Relay For Life Raises Over $100K for Cancer Research

Hundreds take part in overnight event to fight Cancer.

Relay for Life has become a tradition in Rocky Point and this year was no different as the event on June 8 at raised over $100,000 for cancer research.

The overnight event, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, consisted of 48 teams of 411 participants who camped out and took turns walking around the track to raise money to fight cancer.

Town Councilwoman Jane Bonner and Suffolk County Legis. Sarah Anker both took part in the event.

“I am honored to be present in this important and touching community event. Having lost a loved one to cancer, I will continue to strongly advocate for cancer research until we find a cure,” said Legis. Anker.

“It is inspiring to see so many of our residents show up to support this fantastic
cause," Bonner added. "As Long Islanders, we have all seen the devastating effects of cancer first hand. I am tremendously proud of the Rocky Point community for coming together and raising thousands of dollars to combat this terrible disease that has affected so many of our neighbors and family members.”
