Rocky Point Senior Receives Rudolph Scholarship

Nicolette Galante one of eight college-bound students to earn award.

senior Nicolette Galante was one of eight college-bound students to earn the prestigious Rudolph Scholarship for Academic Excellence due to her impressive academic and extracurricular accomplishments.

Galante earned a 100.28 percent weighted grade point average and is expected to graduate this spring with an Advanced Regents diploma. She has taken Advanced Placement classes and is also a member of the National Honor Society.

Along with her academic accomplishments, Galante is also a violinist with the Rocky Point High School Chamber Orchestra and the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, as well as first violinist with the Suffolk Concert Orchestra.

Galante has also volunteered in recreational therapy at Avalon Gardens Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center for six years and currently assists socially challenged Rocky Point High School students through the school’s peer networking
program.

“Nicolette is a stellar student, has strong SAT scores, and is extremely involved in community service," said Dowling College Vice President for College Administration and Student Affairs, Dr. David Ring. "We are excited to have her enroll at Dowling College.”

Acceptance of the scholarship requires Galante to commit to four years of service to the college community in honor societies, student clubs, student government leadership positions, and student publications. She must also maintain a full-time enrollment status with a 3.2 minimum overall grade point average for each semester during the four-year scholarship program.
