Rocky Point Students Celebrate Technology

44 students attend Celebration of Technology in Education at Brookhaven National Laboratory.

Third, fourth and fifth grade students, 44 in all, from school in Rocky Point presented projects at the 11th Annual Celebration of Technology at Brookhaven National Laboratory.

Under the direction of teachers Laurie Varriale, Joy Abbato, and Peter Costa, third graders presented their "Pearly Whites Video: Dental Health Skits" project at the event, which was hosted by Eastern Suffolk BOCES.

Fourth and fifth grader GATES students, under the direction of Dave Falcone, entered two projects at the event. One was entitled "Mission: Space" and the other, "Lego Robotics."

The forum, was designed to provide live demonstrations of the instructional technologies  being utilized in local schools to enhance standard-based learning. The even filled the auditorium and learning center at BNL with around 150 wireless-enabled PC's and MAC's, interactive whiteboards, and student response systems.
