Rocky Point Students Donate 70 Pairs of New Pajamas

Students in Joseph A. Edgar Intermediate School join with nonprofit Pajama Program to collect and donate pajamas.

students in Rocky Point teamed up with the nonprofit Pajama Program to collect and donate 70 pairs of pajamas to needy children.

The pajamas will be donated to area group homes, shelters, foster care and orphanages. As an added bonus, for each pair of pajamas collected, Scholastic Book Clubs matched the donation with picture books or chapter books.

“With parents and teachers working together, we were able to teach the students by example the meaning of compassion and generosity,” teacher Kristie Jackson said in a release.

After the collection, the students gathered for a Great Pajama Drive Writing Celebration to celebrate their accomplishments. Students worked in groups to create their own fairy tales and, using computer programs Audacity and Windows Movie Maker, made mini-movies of their fairytales to present to their parents at the celebration.
