Rocky Point Students Visit Brookhaven National Lab

Rocky Point Middle and High School students in the eighth- and ninth-grade research program had the chance to enhance their understanding of the subjects they are studying during a recent visit to Brookhaven National Lab.

The trip, which was funded through a Target Field Trip Grant, allowed students to get an up-close look at a working research facility, meet with several professionals and conduct a hands-on project.

The event began with an introduction to the work done in the lab of biologist Dr. C. Liu, who had invited the students to visit his lab. Throughout the remainder of the visit, the students toured the facility’s greenhouse and were given the opportunity to perform a gene transfer experiment in the lab setting.
