S-WR Senior to Tour Europe with Sound of America Honor Band and Chorus

Shoreham-Wading River High School senior honored for musical achievements.

Eric Lopez, a senior at Shoreham-Wading River High School, has been selected to perform with a national performing organization known as The Sound of America Honor Band and Chorus. 

Lopez will join other select musicians chosen from applicants representing nearly every state when the group begins its 2013 European Concert Tour in June. He joins just 15 other high school tenors selected around the United States.

The senior is a well respected vocalist at Shoreham-Wading River High School who is activley involved in programs such as concert choir, vocal express, the drama club and audio production at HB Ward's ESBOCES. He has performed the National Anthem for Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and Legis. Sarah Anker.

Lopez has made his mark on the high school stage for taking on leading roles such as Jack in the musical Into The Woods, Che Guevara in the rock opera Evita, Tevye in the musical Fiddler on the Roof, Beast in the musical Beauty and the Beast and the title role in the opera Sweeney Todd. This March, he will be performing in the musical Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the North Fork Community Theatre in Mattituck. He also holds All State & All County honors for his work in voice.

All student performers will meet on the campus of Elizabethtown College on June 29. After days of intensive rehearsal and orientation, the group will depart for Frankfurt, Germany. The group is scheduled to present nine performances in some of Europe’s finest concert halls and major cathedrals during its 25 day concert tour.
