Search for New Mt. Sinai Superintendent Down to Five

District narrowing field for new Superintendent.

With Mt. Sinai Superintendent Anthony Bonasera retiring at the end of the year, the Board of Education has been working with Ray Fell, a BOCES search consultant, to help in bringing on a replacement.

The search has progressed over the last few months and is now down to five candidates, according to an update on the district website.

After a number of applicants were screened by Mr. Fell, ten candidates were selected to be interviewed by the Board. It was then narrowed down to the current five.

"These candidates represent highly qualified educators with varied backgrounds from local schools, upstate districts with business acumen both within and outside the education field along with exceptional leadership skills," reads the progress report.

The district is on schedule to have a series of concluding meetings with the final candidates in early May with a final selection expected at the end of May.
