Shoreham-Wading River Food Train Begins

Students bringing in donated goods for a food train during the week.

Students in the Briarcliff, Miller Avenue and Wading River Elementary school in the Shoreham-Wading River School District are celebrating "Turn OFF the TV, Turn ON Generosity" week by bringing in decorated shoeboxes filled with donated goods for a food train.

"This food drive is not only to collect food to be donated but to allow our kids to be part of "making a difference" to their community," said organizer Anna Acker.

Starting April 23, children are bringing in their decorated shoe boxes and creating a train that they hope to watch grow and grow throughout the week with donated goods to help local food pantries such as St. Anselms, St. Mark’s and St. John’s.
