Shoreham-Wading River Schools Consider Princeton Plan

Plan would group students by grade level, not by where they live.

Plans to adopt a Princeton Plan model for the Shoreham-Wading River School District are under further consideration as the board of education continued discussion on the topic at their Tuesday evening meeting.

According to a report on the Village Beacon RecordSuperintendent Steven Cohen laid out details for the plan, which would group students in schools by their grade level and not on where they live.

It was estimated that the regrouping could save $800,000 and eliminate duplicate positions, however, costs for adding cafeterias and kitchens at the two of the schools and Prodell Middle School, would cost up to $19.8 million.
