Track, Bathroom Work Continues During Capital Projects Construction

Construction on the new track, turf field and school labs enters fourth week.

Construction on the Rocky Point capital projects now enters its fourth week after a rough week of weather.

Workers battled through the rain to install base material for the new track during the third week of construction. Within the next few weeks the next layer of the track will be put in place. Initial concrete work for curbs and sidewalks and the installation of drainage for the new stadium field are also well underway.

Inside the High School, work continues on the skills classroom bathroom, with walls and rough-ins being put in place. In the science classrooms, masonry work, ventilation modifications, and rough-ins continued.

At the latest board of education meeting on July 11, the board accepted the recommended bid for renovation of bathrooms in the High School cafeteria. Work is expected to begin in the next few weeks.

Voters in November approved three projects; the replacement of the grass field with synthetic turf, the reconstruction of the existing track and the reconstruction of instructional laboratories.

Updates on the construction have been posted and will continue to be posted through the expected completion date of Aug. 31.
