Updated Calendars: When is School in Session Next Week?

Extreme weather has put a hitch in an expected vacation week in some districts.

After Hurricane Sandy and the February blizzard kept local districts closed unexpectedly, administrators had to make adjustments to calendars.

Most districts had planned vacations for the upcoming week, but changes have affected the week for some. Here is the schedule for local districts:

Miller Place

  • All five days off as planned.

Rocky Point

  • School is in session March 27 for all staff and students.
  • March 28 school is closed to students for a Superintendent’s Conference Day for administrators and instructional staff only.

Mt. Sinai

  • School is in session for all students March 27 and 28.

Shoreham-Wading River

  • All five days off as planned.

Of course they get their five days off as planned! How can anyone "work" more than 180 days a year?

Miller Place gave up vacation days during February break, which Mt. Sinai did not.
