Name: Alexander Kozikowski

School: Miller Place High School - senior

Accomplishments: Alex has been on the high honor roll for every quarter of his high school years, earning him the award for General Academic Excellence each year.  He achieved the College Board Advanced Placement Scholar with Honors Award, having taken eight AP classes (including chemistry and physics) while in high school.  Alex is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Foreign Language Honor Society.

Alex plays the French horn in the symphonic concert band.  He has competed in the New York State School Music Association (NYSMMA) competition as a soloist for the past six years.  Because of his high scores at these competitions, he was nominated for and selected to perform at the Suffolk County Music Educators Association (SCMEA) concert and at the New York State Council of Administrators for Music Education (NYSCAME) festival.  Only the top high school musicians in the county are selected for SCMEA and NYSCAME.  He also participated in the SCMEA "Day of Horn" in 2010 and will again participate this year.  Students and teachers from across Suffolk County gather each year for special clinics and a concert highlighting this most important brass instrument.  "Day of Horn" holds a Guinness World Record for the most French Horns assembled on a stage at one time.

Alex has played the French horn in the pit band for the high school drama productions of 'Curtains' and 'Fiddler on the Roof' and will also be in the pit band for this year's drama production 'Sweeney Todd'.

Alex has been a member of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and the Service Club.  He volunteers at Mather Hospital.  He has played Junior Varsity soccer, earning the award for Most Improved Player, as well as travel soccer for Mount Sinai and Longwood leagues.  He was on the Varsity badminton team.

Alex is awaiting college admissions and plans to major in pre-med studies in the hopes of becoming a physician.  He would like to continue to play the French horn in college as well as intramural sports.
