Whiz Kid: Miller Place Grad, Track Star Headed to Bucknell

A record-holder in track, recent grad Hanna Greenfield will attend Bucknell University in the fall.

Accomplishments:
Headed to Bucknell University in the fall, Hanna will be a member of their Division I Track and Field Team, competing in the pentathlon/heptathlon. 

During her time at Miller Place High School, Greenfield challenged herself with eight Advanced Placement (A.P.) and/or college level courses. She was on the high honor roll for every quarter of her high school career, earning the General Academic Excellence Award each year, the Excellence in Trigonometry Award as a 10th grader and the Physical Education Award as a 9th grader, as well as the President's Education Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence as a senior. She was also member of the National Honor Society and the Foreign Language Honor Society.

Hanna played the flute in Concert Band and participated in the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) competition. She was selected for the Suffolk County Music Educators Association (SCMEA) festival due to her excellence as a flutist.

Excelling as an athlete, she was on the Junior Varsity field hockey team, the Varsity volleyball team and the Varsity winter and spring track teams. She currently holds the Miller Place High School records for the pentathlon and the 100 meter dash. In track, she has received the All League, All Division, All County and All Academic County Awards, as well as the Coach's MVP Award, all while serving as a team captain.

She was recently honored at the Senior Athletic Dinner where she received the Joe Keany Memorial Scholarship, the Walter P. McCoyd Outstanding Senior Athlete Memorial Scholarship and the Top-Ten Scholar Athlete Award.

Greenfield is entering Bucknell University as an undecided major, leaning towards math and science, and is considering pursuing a career in psychology or neuroscience.
