Whiz Kid: Miller Place Senior Paige Tonkin

Name: Paige Tonkin, age 17 

School: Senior at Miller Place High School 

Accomplishments: Paige has displayed her vocal talents on the stage at Miller Place High School for four years, as a member of the concert chorus, select chorus and vocal jazz ensembles.  She is the vice president of the Drama Club.  As a Panther Player, she has had roles in numerous productions, including Into the Woods (Snow White), Fiddler on the Roof (Grandma Tzietel) and Almost Maine (Hope). 

Paige has been an active thespian with the Mount Sinai Summer Theater Arts Program since the third grade.  Most recently she was the narrator in 101 Dalmatians, Mike Teevee in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and Flannery in Thoroughly Modern Millie. 

In addition to performing in her high school's pop jazz concerts and variety shows, Paige has volunteered her time to sing with the vocal jazz ensemble at Mather Hospital, Rocky Point Memorial Park on Veterans Day and for the younger students at the Laddie A. Decker Sound Beach School and North Country Road Middle School.

An honor roll student who has taken Advanced Placement (A.P.) classes, Paige is a member of the Service Club as well as S.U.S.S. Paige has been employed for over two years at Gold Medal Gymnastics Center in Rocky Point, as a coach and receptionist. She will be pursuing a degree in criminology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in the fall.
