Girls Capture District Softball Championship at North Shore

Check out this gallery of photos from Wednesday night's game at North Shore Little League.

The girls rocked in Rocky Point as they captured the nine and ten-year-old softball championship for district 36 in a game against Riverhead on Wednesday evening. Ending after four innings, the All-Star team from North Shore Little League playing on their home field beat the rivals 14-1.

All of the North Shore girls came out to play but the standout was Pitcher Katie Wilbur who struck out nine in four innings and hit a triple and a homerun. In the previous game against Riverhead, Wilbur worked five innings and got fifteen strikeouts.

The girls will go on to play in Islip on Friday in their first of five games for a chance to play in the next division championship. The winner of that series will go on to the state championships.
