Miller Place Baseball Downs Sayville, Advances to Finals Tuesday

With win, Miller Place advances to Class A finals against Bayport-Blue Point

With a dominant performance from starting pitcher Cody McPartland, the Miller Place varsity baseball team defeated Sayville 4-1 on Memorial Day and advances to the Class A finals.

McPartland struck out 15 and allowed only two hits in 10 innings to lead the Panthers to victory in the loser's bracket final.

The win sets up a matchup with top-seeded Bayport-Blue Point, who knocked Miller Place into the loser's bracket by defeating them 12-7 on May 17. Because the Panthers have one loss and the Phantoms have yet to lose, Miller Place will have to beat them twice in order to claim the Class A title while Bayport-Blue Point will need just one win.

The first game is set for Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Bayport-Blue Point high school. Should Miller Place win, the final game will be held Wednesday at the same time and location.
