PHOTOS: North Shore Little League Kicks off 50th Season

North Shore Little League opening day celebrated 50 years of bringing baseball to local kids on Saturday.

For 50 years now local kids have started their spring baseball season at North Shore Little League in Rocky Point and to mark this milestone, local politicians came out to celebrate on opening day along with hundreds of players.

From the littlest 6-year-old rookie T-ball players swinging the bat in the field for the first time to the teenaged major leaguers the field was crowded on Saturday morning as the league’s board, coaches and parents were joined by State Senator Ken LaValle, Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine, Town Legislator Jane Bonner and newly elected Town Highway Superintendent Dan Losquadro all who said a few words to honor the occasion.
