Playoff Updates: Rocky Point Field Hockey Loses Championship in Heartbreaker

Eagles lose after Class B Championship against Sayville goes to penalty strokes.

Field Hockey

The Suffolk Class B Field Hockey Championships between No. 3 Rocky Point and No. 1 Sayville was as tight as could be.

The Eagles and Golden Flashes ended regulation tied and after a scoreless overtime, Sayville came out on top on Penalty Strokes, 3-2.

Each team scored a goal in the first and second halves as Alyssa Milano and Victoria Trapani netted one each for the Eagles. Casey Heely made 12 saves in net, but it wasn't enough. Sayville remains undefeated (18-0) and will play in the Long Island Championship. The Eagles impressive season ends with a 14-5 overall record.

Boys Soccer

No. 4 Shoreham-Wading River was ousted in the Class A Semifinals by No.1 Sayville Monday, 3-0. The Wildcats finish the season 11-5-2 overall.

Girls Soccer

The girls also made it to the Class A Semifinals but the No.3 Wildcats were also taken down as they fell 2-1 to Bayport-Blue Point. Kari Quinn scored for SWR, which finishes the season 10-5-1 overall.

Cross Country

Shoreham-Wading River took the Suffolk Class B Boys Championship in Cross Country and Miller Place's Nick Hirdt, Jeremy Miekley, Talia and Tiana Guevara and Laura Nolan qualified for the New York State Championship Cross Country Race to be held Nov. 12 in Verona, N.Y.

Football

While and lost their first round games, Mt. Sinai advanced over Port Jeff. The No.3 Mustangs head to No. 2 Amityville for a semifinal matchup No. 12 at 1 p.m. Admission is six dollars.
