Shoreham-Wading River, Mt. Sinai Lax Vying for County Championships

Both SWR varsity teams and the Mt. Sinai boys team have made the Suffolk County Class C finals, and a live stream of the SWR boy's game will be available on MSG Varsity.

The Shoreham-Wading River boys and girls and the Mt. Sinai boys varsity lacrosse teams look to continue their strong seasons with County Championships this week.

The Shoreham-Wading River boys have won 14 games this season and defeated Glenn in a blowout, 14-3, on May 24 to reach the Class C Finals. The Wildcats, who are rolling and have won their last two games by a combined score of 26-6, will face Bayport-Blue Point May 30 at 3 p.m. at Stony Brook University.

Back on April 16, SWR topped Glenn 15-7 in their only regular season matchup. For those that can not attend the game, there will be a live stream available on MSGVarsity.com. The game will also air on MSG Varsity, Cablevision channel 14, June 1 at 4 p.m.

After winning 14 games this season, the SWR girls lacrosse team earned a bye into the finals and will face Mt. Sinai for the Class C Championship on May 31 at 3 p.m. at Dowling College. The Mt. Sinai Mustangs defeated Babylon 11-8 in the semifinals to earn the right to face the top-seeded Wildcats Thursday. In their regular season matchup, it was the Mustangs that came out on top with an 8-5 victory on April 17. That game will also stream live on MSGVarsity.com at 3 p.m. Thursday.

Do you realize that teachers are paid an additional stipend if they work more than 3 consecutive periods in a day? Are you aware that teacher pensions were protected during the stock market crash of 2008, when the average person's 401K was totally at risk? Perhaps if teachers realized how good they have it - look at the BIG picture and outside of their bubble - then they would complain less. Oh and yes, we need our loftily-paid Administrators to kick in some of the salaries, to help pay for stuff. Hard to believe the school districts' mantras that "it's all for the kids".
