Weekend Sports Preview: Miller Place, Mt. Sinai Football Hope to Stay Undefeated

A rundown of some of the big varsity sports matchups in the area this weekend.

The varsity fall sports season is in full swing as teams are now a few games deep and looking to either build on strong starts or make a quick turnaround.

The Miller Place Varsity Football team (2-0) sits atop Division III after two consecutive dominant shutouts to open the season. After heading to Deer Park to hand the Falcons a 35-0, the Panthers welcome Comsewogue to Miller Place with a 21-0 beating. The Panthers will play under the lights at Diamond in the Pines Park in Coram against winless Hauppauge (0-2).

After an undefeated start of their own in 2012, the Mt. Sinai Varsity football squad (2-0) will look to remain unscathed. They host Stony Brook (2-0) Saturday at 2 p.m in a battle of first place teams in Division IV.

On Friday at 4 p.m, the Rocky Point Varsity field hockey team (2-0,3-0) heads to Shoreham-Wading River to take on the 0-1 Wildcats. Also, the League VI Panthers Varsity Girls Tennis (3-2) team hosts Northport (0-4) from League I.
