Top Long Island Summer Events of the Week

Seafood festival, PGA Tour event and Scottish festival are among the highlights.

As part of our 2012 Long Island Summer Guide, each Wednesday we spotlight the major beach and outdoor events coming up across the Island.

Here's what's on tap in the coming week:

21st Annual LIMM Seafood Festival

The Long Island Maritime Museum hosts its 21st Annual Seafood Festival on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 25-26. This year, the festival at the museum in West Sayville features indoor and outdoor museum exhibits, as well as more than 150 vendors of fine nautical arts and crafts and educational groups, and-of course-huge pavilions purveying some of the finest and freshest seafood available. Music has become a huge highlight of this weekend event, featuring the best national and regional acts. $8 per person, under 5 Free. The Barclays Tournament

The Barclays Tournament, featuring the best golfers in the world, is being held at Bethpage State Park from Thursday-Sunday, Aug. 23-26. The PGA Tour event is the first stop in the FedEx Cup. The Black Course at Bethpage is considered one of the best public golf courses in the nation. The field consists of the top 125 players, including 2011 Barclays champ Dustin Johnson, who won the New Jersey event shortened to three rounds by Hurricane Irene. General admission: $65; Weekly general admission: $150; Clubhouse ticket: $210.

LI Scottish Festival & Highland Games

The 52nd Scottish Festival and Highland Games is on tap at Westbury Gardens this weekend. The LI Scottish Clan Mac Duff is pleased to announce that the games have been expanded to an entire weekend. There are games, music, entertainment, food, and the Miss Scottish Festival Pageant. Aug 25 - 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.: Tossing the Caber, Putting the Shot and Music by Arvel Bird "Lord of the Strings" and Ceol Leinn (pronounced Key'Ol Lane'ya...Gaelic for "Music With Us") Aug 26 - 11 a.m.- 5 p.m.: Music by Seven Nations, Long Island Harmonizers

Alive After Five

The final Alive After Five Friday Night Free Summer Street Fair Concert of the summer takes place in Patchogue on Friday, Aug. 24 from 5-9 p.m. The event, around the Main Street and North Ocean intersection, features four live bands, outside dining, craft and informational vendors, food vendors and children’s activities. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

The Farmingville Hills Chamber of Commerce presents the 1st Annual Farmingville Street Fair. The event will be on Sunday, August 26th, 11am - 6pm, on Portion Road (Between Morris and S.
