Netusil Jewelers to Hold Food Drive Once Again on Anniversary

On May 2, bring in one can of food and get a new watch battery installed for free.

For the fifth straight year, in Rocky Point is installing 1.5 or 3 volt watch batteries for free to celebrate its anniversary on May 2.

Commemorating 87 years in business, the jeweler is installing the batteries in return for a nonperishable food donation to be given to local food pantries and churches such as , , , and even Holy Trinity out in Middle Island.

While May 2 is the date to come in and get the battery installed for free, the jeweler also accepts donations year-round and in return, gives you a battery and installs it for just $1.50.

"It’s not that you come in and we give you that battery and say ‘have fun, do it yourself,’ we install it in the watch," Netusil said during last year's anniversary. "You’d be surprised, sometimes people think they come in and we’re just going to hand it to them and they ask how much it is to install, there is no gimmick to this."
