Photo of the Day: Miller Place Homemakers Donate HUGS

Miller Place Homemakers donate stuffed animals to Mather Hospital.

The Miller Place Homemakers, who recently celebrated their 50th anniversary, made a generous donation of stuffed animals to to be distributed to patients through the hospital’s HUGS program.

With about 160 members from several surrounding towns, the Homemakers supports a different charity each month. The group meets to teach classes, share skills with each other and to socialize.

The HUGS program distributes stuffed animals to help comfort children and elderly patients awaiting treatment at the Hospital’s Emergency Room, in its Ambulatory and Inpatient Surgical Pavilion, in the laboratory and other areas.

To make a donation, call Dorothy Perricone, Mather’s Director of Volunteers, at 631-476-2749.
