‘Let me introduce myself……………Melissa Hin’

I am an Artist residing in Miller Place, New York. I have earned a B.A from Plattsburgh State University in Sociology/Human Services and a B.A. from Stony Brook University in Studio Art and Art History.

I have worked as a commissioned artist for over 15 years. My emphasis in Fine Art is in “exploring the expression of emotion' in oil or acrylic landscapes, figure painting, portrait art, and still life paintings.

My work has been displayed at various galleries located throughout New York. My work may also be found in numerous private collections. Additional works of art can be viewed at www.MhinArt.com.

Presently I provide instructional art/painting sessions at my studio in Miller place New York and the Phoenix Gallery in Bellport New York These sessions are designed for both the beginner and experienced artist alike offering great art talk, critiquing, and individualized instruction as needed. In this setting the student experiences a great ‘Art Experience’ at an affordable rate. Private lessons are available upon request.

I am presently signed with a publisher and I am working on illustrating two children's books authored by myself as well as a series of children's books by another local author.

In combining my love of people and my love of art, I offer a “Create your own Masterpiece” painting event whereby I instruct a group of friends or business associates in the step by step process to complete a painting in a 2 hour session. The environment is relaxed and social, designed to promote success, no painting experience needed. As a corporate team building event associates also accomplish a group cooperative painting or series of paintings which will then hang in a common area within the workplace for all to admire.

I currently serve as a Brookhaven Arts and Humanities council Board Member and had served as President of the North Shore Art Guild for several years. In doing so I am in part responsible for coordinating the display of Art throughout several venues, coordinating annual juried and membership shows, organizing instructional demonstrations with artists involved in a variety of mediums, organizing monthly 'Still Life' painting sessions, and providing members with information with respect to upcoming exhibit opportunities. I have acted as juror for both landscape exhibits and figure and faces exhibits. I am a member of the various local Arts organizations and act as Art Agent for several local artist exhibiting at private facilities.

I have worked with the South Country School District's summer enrichment program in their 'Students 4 Art' sessions for summers 2009 and 2010.This is a week long enrichment program which instructs students from k – 12 on the various mediums including drawing, painting, sculpture, and pottery.
