Serbian President Unveils Shoreham Tesla Monument

A life-size granite statue was dedicated at the Tesla Science Center in Shoreham on Monday.

A life size, granite statue of Nikola Tesla, donned in suit and tie, was unveiled on Monday at the Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe in Shoreham.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic honored the great inventor, traveling thousands of miles to pay respect and to dedicate the statue in Tesla's honor.

According to a report on b92.net, Nikolic said Tesla’s ideas were ahead of his time. "... greater than everything that science had previously created and applied, and as such, he was a man of future and a contemporary of the nowadays and of future generations."

The event drew a large crowd with several speakers paying tribute to Tesla.

According to a report on Newsday, his great-nephew  William Terbo, 84, of New Jersey said, "People have to realize just how important Tesla was. He is the most inventive technical genius since Leonardo da Vinci."
