Hocus Pocus, Alakazam! I didn't raise taxes.

Syracuse, New York imposed a $1.20 tax on cell phones, with only a nickel of it going to 911 system improvements.

Does anyone know what Suffolk County does with its Cell Phone tax?

Does anyone look at the Suffolk County tax on their cell phone  bill?

Are your town and county elected officials really holding the line on  "taxes?

Official are not really holding the line on taxes.  Its all smoke and mirrors.

The public - too many of us - are completely duped.

They claim to hold the line on taxes but it's all Hocus Pocus.  They hold the line on taxes you SEE and back door you with taxes/fees you don't pay attention to.

You may have heard the term "Obama Phone"; those free cell phones for people with extremely low incomes, on welfare, having other issues etc.. They actually got their start under Clinton, continued under Bush, and got easier to get under Obama but that's another story.

Mr and Mrs (I can afford my own cell phone), your combined tax rate on cell phone bill in NYS is 23.67% (that is  NYS average as some counties charge more or less)  What does Suffolk Coutry charge?  Take a look see when your bill comes.

The government has decided that cell phones are so important that even people who can't afford one should have them (the system got it's start on landlines).  They have also decided that if you CAN afford one -or at least can pay your own way -  you should pay 23.67% more to them --- the government.

Hocus Pocus Alakazam vote for me I'm the man...

I didn't raise your taxes, but, that's really not what the facts is. :-)

Don't forget to continue to vote incumbents back into office time after time after time.  They know how the system works, and how to dupe the Sheeeple (people behaving like sheep) and keep looking shiny and new.  You never want a newcomer, or someone not beholden to party masters with other ideas getting into office.  You don't want a boat rocker thinking outside the box.  You have to make it impossible for someone outside to get into politics without being a Party Crony.  You continue to vote along party lines republican, democrat, independent, working families etc.

It is not about the people any more, it is about the Political Parties and their power/control.

At what point will more and more people realize it's easier to have an "Obama Phone" than a job that pays for one?  Perhaps when the combined tax rate is 60%, 80%? I don't know.

Remember my last Speak Out where I mentioned the government "inadvertently" teaches the people how to behave?

Most people will continue to work for a living because they want to get ahead in life and feel it's important to produce, but as the government,  through taxation, makes getting ahead harder and harder you are going to be shocked by which neighbors and entire neighborhoods jump ship and get on the government dole.  And when that happens the cycle increases exponentially, as the producers get taxed more and more and at faster increasing rates to cover the government hand outs and wasteful spending.

Signing off with a few quotes again.

To say that any people are not fit for freedom, is to make poverty their choice, and to say they had rather be loaded with taxes than not.

- Thomas Paine

The genius of our ruling class is that it has kept a majority of the people from ever questioning the inequity of a system where most people drudge along, paying heavy taxes for which they get nothing in return.

People try to live within their income so they can afford to pay taxes to a government that can't live within its income.
