Miller Place, S-WR Among New York's 100 Most Challenging High Schools

Miller Place and Shoreham-Wading River school districts named in Washington Post's list of the 100 most challenging high schools.

Miller Place and Shoreham-Wading River School District's have been ranked by the Washington Post in the top 100 of New York's Most Challenging High Schools.

The index score, which ranks the schools, is the number of college-level tests given at a school in 2012 divided by the number of graduates that year. Also taken into account are the percentage of students who come from families that qualify for lunch subsidies and the percentage of graduates who passed at least one college-level test during their high school career, called equity and excellence (E&E).

Miller Place comes in at No. 68 in NYS with an index score of 2.321 and an E&E percentage of 38.40. Shoreham-Wading River is ranked No. 98 with an index score of 1.750 and E&E of 46.8.
