Whiz Kid: Scholar Athlete, Musician Studying Engineering at SBU

Name: Nathaniel D'Agati - Age 18

School: Miller Place High School Class of 2013

Accomplishments: Headed to Stony Brook University in the fall, Nate was on the high honor roll for every quarter of his four years at Miller Place High School, earning the Award for General Academic Excellence each year, as well as the President's Award for Academic Excellence as a senior. He challenged himself with seven Advanced Placement (A.P.) courses and was a member of the National Honor Society, the Foreign Language Honor Society and the Service Club.

Outside of the classroom, D'Agati was a multi-sport athlete. He played Varsity tennis for four years, serving as captain and earning All-League and All-County Awards, the Miller Place ESPY Award, as well as the awards for Rookie of the Year and Most Driven. Nate played on the JV and Varsity Basketball Teams, as well as the JV and Varsity Soccer teams, serving as team captain and earning the All-Conference Player award. He was also a member of the Sound Beach Soccer Club's Division 1 Arsenal Soccer team for five years, again serving as team captain and winning the Division Championship in 2010.

As a participant in the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) competition, Nate played classical piano both in duets and solos.  He volunteers his time as an assistant instructor in the Miller Place Athletic Association's summer tennis, soccer and basketball camps. He has been a Therapeutic Recreation volunteer at the Long Island State Veterans Home.

He was the recipient of the ASSET Scholarship, the Italian American Academic Scholarship, the Edmund S. Kos Memorial Scholarship and the Arlette Conklin Memorial Scholarship. He will be majoring in electrical engineering at Stony Brook University in their Scholars Program and was the recipient of the university's Dean's Scholarship.
