Rocky Point's Reh Brothers to be Inducted into Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame

Both were exceptional soccer and lacrosse players at RP.

They originally played golf, but when Scott brought home a lacrosse stick in the seventh grade and showed Jeff, the Reh brothers’ lives changed forever.

They put together hall of fame careers at Rocky Point High School and Adelphi University, earning their way into the Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame this year as new inductees.

“We’ve done everything together through the years,” said Jeff, who lives in Sound Beach and works as a special education teacher at Eastern Suffolk Boces. “To have the finality of the hall of fame and going in together is special.”

Scott, who holds the position of director of health, physical education and athletics in the Mount Sinai School District, is 14 months older than Jeff. He started for five years at midfield on the soccer team and as a senior led Rocky Point to a state title, which he credits as his top team moment during high school.

His proudest individual honor was winning the Ray Enners Award as Suffolk County’s top high school lacrosse player, an honor given each year not only to a physically gifted athlete, but also to a leader with character like Enners, a Long Island native, who was brave enough to sacrifice his own life for a fellow soldier during the Vietnam War.

“To be able to do what my brother and I did and be recognized in our own backyard is a special honor,” Scott said. “It’s been a lot of fun.”

Jeff was a two-time All-American in lacrosse at Adelphi and Scott was Rocky Point’s first All-American in lacrosse. Both are members of the Hall of Fame at Adelphi.

The inductees will all be present at a former ceremony on Tuesday, May 3 at Patchogue’s West Lake Inn.
