Wake up and smell coffee, MP residents! This has nothing to do with the kids; it's all about…Read More perpetuating status quo and high paid salaries/benefits. Has anyone seen the payroll that MP Administration has? Despicable. We haven't seen any layoffs either in that branch of the govt. For whom do you think this budget is for? VOTE WITH YOUR HEAD, AND VOTE NO!
Bus route need attention. 1/2 empty buses are a waste of money. Miller Place should open the North…Read More County Road School and the High School 20 Minutes apart and the Middle and Elementery School 1 hour later and 20 minutes apart to cut the Transportation budget in half.
There are kids in Rocky Point School district that don't live in
this school district...why do they…Read More allow it year after year ?
Let someone else pay for it.. enough is enough..
I have to agree with you on this one. I usually always vote yes, but the increases never seem to…Read More stop and, I don't know about other families, but our budget is stretched as tight as it can be. The school needs to figure out how to stretch theirs as well, just like all the families have to do in RP. We can't just have increases like this every single year when no one is getting increases in their paychecks.
Although I have applauded the BOE for staying under the cap this year, I still plan to vote NO. An…Read More increase is still an increase. And since 2008 my school taxes have increased by 23%. These annual increase cannot continue--where will we be in another 5 years. Any increase still impacts the community. Consider this: In Sound Beach we have two food pantries that are feeding local families. The "fish" church in RP provides dinners for needy local familes once a week. And how many children are in the Free Lunch Program at school?!! If the Board does not realize that these increase have to stop, then they do not really live in our community. And we all know where the cuts need to be made! So, if only to send a message--Vote NO on May 21!
Remember one thing, AS SCHOOL TAXES OR ANY TAX GOES UP THE VALUE OF YOUR HOME DECREASES SOME. The…Read More kids will still get a good education for what we are paying now. The only difference (if the district is on the up and up) the salaries and pensions will take a hit. Medical Insurance will fall in line with the rest of us out here. It's time we stop the BS about the kids taking the hit. You want me to vote yes, then for my yes vote I need to see the salaries and pensions take a 3 year freeze before the vote. It's time we started to think about the residents in the community instead of the people with the high salaries that live outside our community. Wouldn't you say!!!
I'M VOTING NO. TIRED OF HEARING HOW IT WILL AFFECT THE CHILDREN AND THE VALUE OF OUR HOMES. WE ALL…Read More KNOW WHERE THE MONEY IS GOING, SALARIES, PENSIONS AND MEDICAL INSURANCE. VOTING NO.
I must agree, while Sue Sullivan may be more qualified then other candidates who have run in the…Read More past....clearly Jessica Ward is the better candidate this time around.
Noelle, I do plan on attending these meetings, and offering suggestions. My comments, by the way,…Read More were for BOTH teacher unions and administration. Those are only substantial places we can cut without adversely effecting the kids. If we cannot make a dent on healthcare contributions, then the battle has been lost and it will just be a matter of time before the bubble bursts, and all of our homes will be worthless. And speaking of double-taxation, we are paying substantial costs for our healthcare costs in the private sector AND we are paying for virtually free healthcare for our administrators and unions. If that isn't double taxation, I don't know what is.
Spoken like a true teacher. Did you know that the average school teacher is only paying 15% of the…Read More actual cost of health care premiums for themselves and their families, when Medical healthcare insurance premiums are rising at an alarming 17% per annum? Do you realize that teachers are paid an additional stipend if they work more than 3 consecutive periods in a day? Are you aware that teacher pensions were protected during the stock market crash of 2008, when the average person's 401K was totally at risk? Perhaps if teachers realized how good they have it - look at the BIG picture and outside of their bubble - then they would complain less. Oh and yes, we need our loftily-paid Administrators to kick in some of the salaries, to help pay for stuff. Hard to believe the school districts' mantras that "it's all for the kids".
