Fire Range Re-Named To Honor Firearms Instructor from Shoreham

The Westhampton firearms range was dedicated this week to Officer Stephen Clark, of Shoreham, who lost his battle with cancer two years ago.

Suffolk County Police officer Stephen Clark, who lost his battle with cancer two years ago, was remembered on Tuesday as police officers renamed the firearms range in Westhampton in his honor.

During a ceremony held at the range officers and family remembered Officer Clark, a firearms instructor for 15 years who lived in Shoreham, as an inspiration to members of the department during his battle with cancer and for his dedication to an organization he created, called 9-1-1 Veterans, which helps veterans financially and spiritually.

The legacy of the 23-year veteran of the police department, officers said, will live on with the renaming of the instruction facility as the Stephen J. Clark Memorial Range.
