Police have identified the bicyclist struck by a hit-and-run driver as Bradford Packer, 51, of Port Jefferson Station. Packer was riding his bicycle north on Route 112 when a driver traveling west on Route 347 hit him and fled the scene. Police described the vehicle as a light-colored Hyundai sedan that would have significant front-end damage. Drivers should start finding alternative routes as Route 25A in St. James will get repaved over the next two weeks.
