From Port Jefferson: Vandals Hit Church Sign in Port Jefferson Station

The sign in front of Calvary Baptist Church in Port Jefferson Station was vandalized sometime between 10 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. last night, a church leader said Tuesday. 

The graffiti reads "God Iz You" in orange letters on one side of the sign, while it reads "The Free Spirits" on the other side in black paint. 

From Three Village: Communications Tower at Stony Brook Fire House Will Fund Paid EMTs

A new program which brings paid emergency medical technicians to the Stony Brook Fire District is expected to reduce response times and enhance the level of protection and care the district can provide to its residents – and is expected to be paid for with revenue from a new communications tower on fire district property. 

Commissioner Paul Degen said the new EMT initiative will cost the district $75,000 a year, which won't be funded through already-thinly-stretched taxpayer dollars; rather, he said, it will be funded through revenue generated by a new communications tower – also called a cell tower or a monopole – that will be erected on the premises of Station 2 on Stony Brook Road.


From Smithtown: Smithtown School District Superintendent Abruptly Resigns

Smithtown School District Superintendent Anthony Annunziato announced his resignation at the board of education meeting on Tuesday evening and said he will be joining St. John's University as a professor.

Annunziato, who has been with the district just over one year and has had a 28-year career in education, read a letter announcing his intentions.
