Nonprofit Hopes to Send Miller Place Boy to Disney World

The Suffolk County Make a Wish Foundation is hosting a Valentine's Day campaign in support of three-year-old Ayden.

Suffolk County’s Make a Wish Foundation is running a Valentine’s Day campaign to support the wish of a Miller Place boy.

Three-year-old Ayden, who suffers from a type of muscular cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma, wants to go to Disney World and the local foundation hopes to grant his wish with funds raised through February’s campaign.

The foundation said it doesn’t give out children’s last names.

The promotion encourages Suffolk residents to send donations to Ayden’s cause in their sweetheart’s name in lieu of flowers or chocolates for Valentine’s Day.

The Make a Wish Foundation will send out acknowledgements to valentines on Feb. 10, letting them know a donation, which can be made in $15, $25, $50 or other increments, has been made in their honor.

Ayden, who his mother Ann Marie describes as a very lovable, happy little boy, was diagnosed with Rhabdomysocarcoma, which can be life threatening, when he was 10 months old.

“He’s such a joy to be around,” Ann Marie added.

Ayden wants to go to Disney World because he loves the Toy Story franchise, especially his favorite character he calls “Buss Lightyear,” Ann Marie said.
