Rocky Point Woman Celebrates Her 100th Birthday

Rocky Point resident, Sadie Liantonio, celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends this year in Wading River.

A resident of Rocky Point completed a task most of us could only dream of, she celebrated her 100th birthday. Sadie Liantonio an active member of the community recently held a huge party at East Winds in Wading River to celebrate the milestone of turning 100.

Although the age might be considered a big deal to some, it has not stopped Liantonio when it comes to work. For the past 22 years she has been volunteering at Mather Hospital and has also been participating in a crocheting program that creates hats for newborn babies.

According to Liantonio, all of the hats she crochets get donated to St. Charles Hospital.

Councilwoman Jane Bonner felt it was important to attend the celebration and tell the Liantonio family what a role model Sadie has become in Rocky Point.

“I congratulate Sadie for reaching this milestone and for her many years of service to the community,” said Bonner in a statement. “Her youthful spirit, zest for life and concern for her neighbors are good examples for all of us to follow.”
