Shaolin Kung Fu Donates $3K to Love146 Charity

Awards dinner gives opportunity to present funds to charity.

held its Sixth Annual Awards Dinner Saturday night at East Wind in Wading River, and through recent fundraising was able to present a $3000 check to the Love 146 Charity.

Love 146 is an organization formed to help abolish child trafficking and exploitation. The check was awarded to Sue Lingenfelter, a representive from the local Long Island Love 146 Task Force. She spoke about her experiences with the charity and her trip to Manilla where they built rehabilitation homes for rescued children.

There were 120 Guests at the dinner that included dancing and games for the kids. Students of all ages received awards for their accomplishments in the Kung fu school. Awards included Most Disciplined, Most Determined, Most Supportive Parent and more.

"Shaolin Kung fu is not about punches and kicks," said Sisuk Ed Turney, head instructor at the Rocky Point studio. "That is simply a means to develop discipline. Shaolin is about giving back and helping the world. The Love 146 people have an intrinsic understanding of what this Shaolin principle is about. It is an honor and privilege to work with such heroic individuals."
