Head Injury Reported After Collision in Mt. Sinai

A two car collision at the intersection of Route 25A and Route 347 at around 9 p.m. on Sunday resulted in a head injury for one of the car's occupants, according to police.

Rocky Point Budget May Pierce Tax Cap

Final numbers have yet to be determined, but early estimates indicate that the upcoming Rocky Point budget will include a tax levy increase above the two percent cap instituted by New York State. The cap can be pierced if the district's budget passes by a supermajority, or 60 percent.

St. Paddy's Parade Queen and Royal Court Named

The Friends of St. Patrick recently announced that Megan Dwyer of Mt. Sinai is the Queen of the 62nd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. She will be escorted down Route 25A on March 11 by her Ladies of the Royal Court; Carissa Cantone of Shoreham and Tara Kathleen McKnight of Mt. Sinai.

Rocky Point Cheerleaders Earn Second Straight National Championship

A dynasty is building in Rocky Point as the Varsity cheerleaders successfully defended their National High School Cheerleading Championship (NHSCC) in Orlando, Fla. The team now has two National Championships in a row to go along with eight consecutive regional titles.

Three Hospitalized After Van Crashes Into Mount Sinai Home

A van suddenly rammed through the side of a home in Mount Sinai occupied by two people a week ago. A van, driven by a 56-year old man from Rocky Point, had collided with a Toyota sedan and then crashed through the home. Three were sent to the hospital with minor injuries.
