Weekend Guide: Memorial Day Gatherings

Gather with friends and family and remember those who gave their lives for the country this Memorial Day weekend.

  • See Old Glory, state, local, and Armed Forces flags organized to exhibit the growth of our country at the Parade of American Flags on Memorial Day at Heritage Park starting at 9:30 a.m. A scavenger hunt will also take place.
  • A Gravity Cask of Full Sail "Amber" will be tapped at 6 p.m. at DEKS American Restaurant and sold by the pint until it is gone. Also Full Sail IPA and Bourbon Stout will be available on draught.
  • The forecast may not be the greatest, but it's Memorial Day weekend and that means that Brookhaven Town beaches are open. Lifeguards will be on duty between Saturday and Monday from 10:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. Parking permits are required.
  • Enjoy an evening of music with James Segall and Rorie Kelly at the Mt. Sinai Congregational Church at 233 North Country Road in Mount Sinai.
  • All are welcome to attend the Sound Beach Civic Association's Memorial Day services as we remember the seven men from Sound Beach who paid the ultimate price for their country. Students from Miller Place and Rocky Point High Schools will be performing as well as local talent.
