Weekend Planner: Veterans Day and Playoff Football

Many will be able enjoy a three-day weekend with Veterans Day Friday, and we have a few ways to spend it.

Veterans Day Ceremonies

There will be three Veterans Day ceremonies Friday at 11 a.m.

The Mt. Sinai Fire Department will hold its ceremony at Heritage Park in Mt. Sinai. The Rocky Point VFW will be at on King Road in Rocky Point to Lastly, the Sound Beach Civic will be at the Vets Memorial in Sound Beach where students from the Miller Place and Rocky Point Music Department will perform.

Playoffs

The Mt. Sinai Football advanced over Port Jeff. The No.3 Mustangs head to Nov. 2 Amityville for a semifinal matchup No. 12 at 1 p.m. Admission is six dollars.

Miller Place's Nick Hirdt, Jeremy Miekley, Talia and Tiana Guevara and Laura Nolan qualified for the New York State Championship Cross Country Race to be held Nov. 12 in Verona, N.Y.

Live Music

In the mood for some live music? There are plenty of places to go this weekend to get your fix. At on Friday, Weird Science performs and on Saturday the popular Billy Joel cover band Big Shot

On Saturday you can also head to at 7:30 p.m. to hear the . If you want to take a trip to Port Jeff, there will be live bands at Lulu's Village Pub, Port Jazz, Danfords and more.
