The event's honoree is Lon T. Dolber, whose band, Filthy Crickets, performs on the East End.

Rocker Dave Mason will perform at the Independent Group Home Living (IGHL) Foundation 35th Anniversary Gala on Thursday, May 15, at Flower Field in St. James.

IGHL is a Manorhaven-based organization that provides services and support for people with developmental disabilities.

Mason, whose career spans decades, will perform with his band as part of its Dave Mason Traffic Jam World Tour 1967-2014. His hits include “Feelin' Alright,” “Alone Together” and “Only You Know And I Know.”

Mason has performed for IGHL in the past and said he enjoys coming back to the event. “Each year that I’m here, I’m so impressed with IGHL and the work they do for people with intellectual disabilities,” Mason said, in a press release. “IGHL is full of very inspirational people!”

Lon T. Dolber, CEO and president of Holbrook-based American Portfolios Financial Services, is the gala’s honoree.

He thanked the IGHL for the recognition.

“If being honored at their 35th anniversary event can create an opportunity to bring about awareness and support for the work being done in these often-overlooked communities that are quietly living with the challenges of basic daily living—something we all tend to take for granted—then I  am humbled to serve in that capacity,” he said.

Dobler is also a board member for World Team Sports (WTS), an organization that connects able-bodied athletes with physically-challenged athletes and organizes sports activities and competitions. The 58-year-old has organized a variety of athletic events for WTS.

Dolber, a musician himself, plays the bass guitar in his band the Filthy Crickets, which performs on the East End.
