Fall Brings Changes to Sound Beach's Is-A-Love Cafe

New menu items and new hours for the popular cafe.

Harvest lunches, new hours and some new entertainment are on tap for local cafe favorite, Is-A-Love Cafe.

Fall flavors pack the menu with tasty selections like pumpkin spiced lattes, broccoli cheddar soup and caramel apple pancakes with apples from local farms.

Owner Adrianne Johansson or Chef A as many call her, knows a few things about food. An executive chef for 23 years, Johansson knows her way around a kitchen.

"The people just love it here. I am humbled by it," said Johansson who also spent time at Danford's in Port Jefferson and Majestic Gardens in Mt. Sinai.

"I used to work way to hard, seven days-a- week. This is much more relaxed. It is what I wanted to do," she said and describes the place as Cheers meets Friends.

There's usually something going on at the cafe, from comedy nights to psychics to fundraisers, making it a community hub. This Sat. the cafe will play host for the the Team Julia Fundraiser, which will feature live music outside, face painting and raffles.

The restaurant, which opened Feb. 2, has also tweeked its hours a bit and is open Wed.- Fri. 7 a.m. -5 p.m. Weekend hours are 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and psychic night is now once a month.

Is-A-Love Cafe is located at 245 Echo Ave. in Sound Beach.
