Miller Place Business Owners Victims in Woman's Cancer Scheme

Owners of Paws N Claws and Tuscany Gourmet Market in Miller Place aided woman recently arrested after faking cancer.

Multiple Miller Place business owners rushed to help when 21-year-old Brittany Ozarowski came to them claiming to have cancer and asking for donations, and were hit hard when hearing that Ozarowski was arrested for false claims and used donations to feed her heroin addiction.

According to an Associated Press report posted on Bradenton.com, Elizabeth Patricola, owner of Paws N Claws, and Tom O'Grady, owner of the Tuscany Gourmet Market in Miller Place were two of the over 60 possible victims of the scheme.

Patricola, a cancer survivor herself, befriended Ozarowski after she came into her shop asking for donations. O’Grady estimates her gave her $5,000 and held a special fundraiser in her honor, according to the report.
