7 LI School Districts Make AP Honors: None of Them Ours!

No AP Honor Roll For Local School Districts!

7 Long Island Disticts have made AP Honor Roll: Not Miller Place, Not Rocky Point, Not Mt. Sinai, Not Shoreham Wading River. Hempstead Did! We are so full of ourselves in our local districts we don't see how terrible we are. Keep throwing money at our district systems that don't get the job done. All of us (including myself) should be ashamed of what we have let happen in our community. But we have a great PTO that raises money for events! Give me a break, our districts are becoming a educational joke.

I don't put too much pull in those lists. They are purely based on test scores. The real educational joke is that the "top school districts" spend more time preparing kids for tests, and less time preparing them for college or for a career. The best schools should have teachers and courses that are engaging and sculpt minds rather than drill multiple choice questions in their heads.

Do you really think that students who put their schools on the AP Honor Roll did so by having someone "drill multiple choice questions in their heads"? Why do you diminish their success? Students do take tests but they also take college-level "courses that are engaging and sculpt minds" and prepare them for further education should they take that path. I congratulate the schools and the students for the hard work involved in making the list. Sour Grapes does nothing to address our own misappropriation of non-monetary resources.

We dont pay high taxes for high grades, we pay them to keep our kids away from the blacks and hispanics.

Wrong to single out blacks and hispanics but there is alot of truth to the fact that many of our residents have move here to get away from "bad elements" west of us. That is surely a fact. I know my parents moved out here during the early seventies for this reason.

The ignorance & apathy is unprecedented. Seems like a drug induced malaise has stricken both students & parents.
