Crime Report: Rocky Point Man Charged in Attempted Robbery

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction

Joshua Maines, 22, of Rocky Point, was arrested July 20 in Miller Place and charged with first-offense DWI. Maines allegedly hit a car on Cedar Drive in Miller Place at approximately 3:10 a.m and was found to be intoxicated.

Keith Lopez, 27, of Selden, was arrested July 19 in Mt. Sinai and charged with first-offense DWI. Police said that around 2:30 a.m. Lopez was observed failing to maintain his lane of travel several times as he was traveling southbound in a 1997 Ford on CR 83 in Mount Sinai. Upon being stopped, he was found to be intoxicated.

John Wendal III, 48, of Sound Beach, was arrested July 18 in Rocky Point and charged with first-offense DWI. Wendal was stopped for an expired registration ticket at Route 25A in Rocky Point at 3:54 p.m. Police said there was a strong odor of alcohol emanating from his breath and an open bottle of alcohol was in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

Steven Guiffre, 48, of Mt. Sinai, was arrested July 16 in Mt. Sinai and charged with petty larceny. Guiffre allegedly stole a Rug Doctor carpet cleaner between on from Kohl’s in Rocky Point on June 24.

Randolph Joseph, 26, of Rocky Point, was arrested July 16 in Port Jefferson Station and charged with second degree robbery. Joseph allegedly attempted to rob an individual on Main Street, Port Jefferson Station at approximately 5 a.m. by punching and kicking the victim on his face, head and body.

Lisa Kelly, 46, of Miller Place, was arrested July 15 in Selden and charged with petty larceny. Kelly arrested at College Plaza, Selden at approximately 11:30 a.m. for allegedly putting five uniform shirts and one pair of uniform pants into her purse while she was in the fitting room of Life Uniform Store and leaving the store without paying for them.

Do you realize that teachers are paid an additional stipend if they work more than 3 consecutive periods in a day? Are you aware that teacher pensions were protected during the stock market crash of 2008, when the average person's 401K was totally at risk? Perhaps if teachers realized how good they have it - look at the BIG picture and outside of their bubble - then they would complain less. Oh and yes, we need our loftily-paid Administrators to kick in some of the salaries, to help pay for stuff. Hard to believe the school districts' mantras that "it's all for the kids".

I would not be surprised if the meatballs running crookhaven missed the mother-load of that Superfund.

Jennifer, if Bonner speaks about the town trying to buy the property next to east of Scotts beachRead More (or scots - spelling?) forget about it. that property is meaningless to issues east of that point. Oh by the way this is not confirmed yet but I hear our new Highway guy is/was the lawyer for the guy who owns that track of land. crookhaven makes strange bedfellows hey?

That made me smile! My mom passed away when I was a child and not a day has gone by in the past 37Read More years that I don't think about her and wonder who this woman was who gave her children the gift of life but never had the opportunity to see her children grow up. The little that I remember of her warms my heart. I wish all mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers and Godmothers a blessed Mother's Day! :)
