Crimes Nearby: Grand Larceny Arrest in Setauket

Suffolk County police reported the following arrests between Aug. 14-21.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Three Village

Ivan Medina, 33, of Selden, was arrested Aug. 17 in Setauket and charged with fourth degree grand larceny. Reports state Medina was arrested for allegedly making unauthorized cash transactions used towards diesel fuel. Reports indicate the transactions were conducted at 255 Pond Path in Setauket between July 1 at 7 a.m. and Aug. 17 at 4 p.m.

Eric Heagle, 18, of Stony Brook, was arrested Aug. 14 in Setauket and charged with first offense DWI. Reports state Heagle crashed a 1999 Jeep Suburban on Old Coach Rd. in Setauket just south of Route 25A at approximately 1:10 a.m. Reports indicate that further investigation determined Heagle was allegedly driving while intoxicated. 

Port Jefferson

Angelo Mosquea, 21, of Bellport was arrested Aug. 15 in Port Jefferson Station and charged with refusing to move on. Mosquea was arrested for allegedly not following orders on state Route 347, Port Jefferson Station at approximately 7:45 p.m.    

Adam Rosen, 35, of Commack was arrested Aug. 15 in Port Jefferson Station and charged with obscene language and gestures. Rosen was arrested for alleged obscene gestures on Route 112, Port Jefferson Station at approximately 1:15 p.m. 

North Fork

Mariusz Pawelski, 28, of Mattituck was charged with driving while intoxicated on Sunday at 8:49 p.m. after police responded to a report of an erratic driver possibly involved in a motor vehicle accident on New Suffolk Road in Cutchogue, police said. Pawelski was stopped, and he failed several roadside sobriety tests, police said.

Ronald Franklin, 50, of Islip Terrace was charged with driving while intoxicated on Aug. 17 at 9:08 p.m. after police stopped him for failing to maintain his lane on Route 48 in Southold, police said.

William Kelly, 71, of Southold was charged with aggravated DWI on Aug. 18 at 11:51 a.m. after police stopped him for driving a 1987 Mazda pickup truck onto the the shoulder of Route 25 in Southold near Harbor Lane, police said.

Robert Aleksander, 55, of Cutchogue was charged with DWI and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle on Saturday at 3:44 p.m. after police, who reported that the defendant was known to have a suspended license, observed him driving east on Sterling Road in Cutchogue, police said. He was found to be intoxicated after he was stopped and his vehicle was towed from the scene because of an expired registration and no insurance, police said.

Amanda Sharkey, 27, of Riverhead was charged with aggravated DWI and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle on Sunday at 2:08 a.m. after police stopped her for a traffic violation on Route 48 in Mattituck, police said. Police also said that she had a prior DWI conviction and her driver's license was revoked.

Riverhead

Flabio Pop, 24, of Riverside was arrested Saturday at 9:45 p.m. on Flanders Road in Riverside and charged with first-degree criminal contempt, a felony, and criminal obstruction of breath, a misdemeanor. Police said Pop, while intoxicated, violated an order of protection and put his hands around the neck of a woman.

A 41-year-old woman from Flanders told police that someone stole a $400 television and DirecTV cable box from her garage on Flanders Road in Flanders sometime on Sunday at around 1:30 a.m. She added that she noticed an additional $500 missing from her car.
