Crimes Nearby: Man Robs Tanger Store, Ties Up Employee and Steals Car

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Port Jefferson:

A person reported that on Dec. 20 he was in Jefferson Plaza drinking when he was approached by a group of people he did not know. According to a police report, the man shared alcohol with them and then walked to the New York State Department Park and Ride on Route 112 where they got into a verbal dispute at about 11 p.m. and the man was slashed on his forearms with a knife. He was assisted to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital where he was treated. No arrests have been made at this time.

Three Village:

Shawn Powe, 43, of Mt. Sinai, was arrested Dec. 18 in East Setauket and charged with petty larceny and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors. Police said Powe had a 14-year-old daughter with her when she allegedly shoplifted from Wal-Mart.

Riverhead:

A female Tanger employee was robbed by a man who forced his way into the store, tied her up, and stole her car, police said.Riverhead Police said on Wednesday at 9:02 a.m., they responded to the Aldo shoe store, located at 1770 West Main Street, Suite 902, in the Riverhead Tanger Outlet Center.

According to police, the female victim, an employee at Aldo Shoes, reported that an unknown male forced his way into the business while she was opening the front door to the store. The man, police said, placed an unknown object to the back of the employee's head and forcibly removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the store. The victim was then tied up, police said -- while the subject fled in her 2012 Hyundai Elantra, registration number FRR-4165. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Riverhead Police at 621-727-4500.

But I also blame the absent NO vote. They need to be sent a message-we need a majority no vote but that will never happen. Glad I am out of here in 2 years. Can't imagine trying to live here and pay these taxes on social security and my 401K that tanked in 2008 while I was making up the teachers loss on their pension and paying my health insurance & theirs at the same time. So boo hoo teachers you have to spend money on the kids while I spend money on you.

Did you know that the average school teacher is only paying 15% of theRead More actual cost of health care premiums for themselves and their families, when Medical healthcare insurance premiums are rising at an alarming 17% per annum? Do you realize that teachers are paid an additional stipend if they work more than 3 consecutive periods in a day? Are you aware that teacher pensions were protected during the stock market crash of 2008, when the average person's 401K was totally at risk? Perhaps if teachers realized how good they have it - look at the BIG picture and outside of their bubble - then they would complain less. Oh and yes, we need our loftily-paid Administrators to kick in some of the salaries, to help pay for stuff. Hard to believe the school districts' mantras that "it's all for the kids".
