Crimes Nearby: Shoplifting Charges on the North Fork

Suffolk County police reported the following arrests between July 30 and Aug. 6.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Three Village

Jacob Shurtluff, 19, of South Setauket, was arrested Aug. 1 in South Setauket and charged with second-degree strangulation. Police did not release any other details on his arrest.

Port Jefferson

A seventeen year old boy from Centereach was arrested July 30 in Port Jefferson Station and charged with third degree assault. The youth allegedly punched someone in the face in a parking lot on Route 112, Port Jefferson Station. Reports indicate two other suspects are at large. 

Riverhead

Lawrence Nash, 20, of Flanders was arrested Aug. 4 and charged with criminal obstruction of breath and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors. Police said Nash got into a fight with his younger brother and sister, smacking him and choking her. Police did not have the ages of Nash’s siblings.  

Robert Langhorne, 45, of Riverside was arrested Aug. 4 and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. Police were called to a fight near the corner of Pine Street and Vail Avenue and said they saw Langhorne looking suspicious. He then admitted he had crack cocaine in his pocket, which police discovered was wrapped in a dollar bill, according to reports.

North Fork

Doreen Masterson, 44, of Woodstock was charged with petty larceny on Friday at 6:35 p.m. after an employee of the Greenport retail store on Main Street called police and reported that she was following a woman she'd recognised from two days earlier who she suspected had shoplifted from the store, police said. The officer on the scene located Masterson and arrested her for shoplifting, police said.



Scott Anderson, 24, of Mattituck was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated on Monday at 1:20 a.m. after police stopped him for speeding on Route 25 in Cutchogue, police said. Anderson was found to be intoxicated and was held overnight for arraignment.

William Ronayne, 19, of Middle Village was charged with petty larceny on Sunday at 4:47 p.m. after police responded to a report of shoplifting at Handy Pantry in Mattituck, police said.

Officers on the scene identified Ronayne as the suspect who allegedly attempted to leave the store with a package of frozen cookie dough without paying for it, police said. Ronayne was arrested and later released on cash bail.
