Crimes Nearby: Stony Brook Man Arrested for Setting Boat on Fire

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.


Port Jefferson

Michael Faitao, 24, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested July 16 and charged with second-degree burglary, a felony. Police said he entered a home on Champlain Street in Port Jefferson Station and stole property on July 15 at around 2 p.m. Faitao was arrested and arraigned the following day, posted $50,000 bail via bond, and is due back in court on Sept. 19.

Suffolk police have arrested a Stony Brook man whom they said intentionally set a fire and stole several GPS devices, cellphones and other items. Dylan Vitti, 21, faces 13 charges. Among them are a felony arson charge related to a Feb. 15 incident, in which he allegedly set a boat on fire in Centereach, and a felony grand larceny charge related to a July 15 incident, in which he allegedly stole credit cards, prescription pills, a cellphone, a GPS and other items from a pickup truck in Patchogue. He was arrested July 17 at Shore Motor Inn on Sunrise Highway in Patchogue. Police also charged him with four charges of petty larceny, a misdemeanor, and seven charges of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, also a misdemeanor.

Riverhead

Clifford Stokley, 57, of Riverhead, was charged with grand larceny in the third degree, a felony, on July 21 at 7 p.m. Stokley was charged, police said, after they reviewed video surveillance of him stealing an air compressor from Flanders Sheet Metal, located on Flanders Road in Flanders.

• The East End DWI Task Force arrested six during a sting in Riverhead Saturday night.

Five were charged with driving while intoxicated, one was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, and two vehicles were seized.

Shamir Euceda, 23, of Hampton Bays, was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a felony, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Nelson Avelar, 33, of Riverhead Avelar was charged with DWI, driving without an interlock device, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree, a felony.
