A clogged dryer vent caused a fire in a residence on Port Washington Road in Sound Beach Monday evening.
Fire trucks, rescue vehicles and first responders from the Sound Beach, Rocky Point, Miller Place and Mount Sinai fire departments swarmed the area around 6 p.m. to put out what ended up being a small fire, according to John Drews, assistant chief of the Sound Beach Fire Department.
Drews said the team of firefighters was able to contain the damage from the blaze to just one room in the house. Though the fire was out by about 6:30 p.m., a few fire vehicles and peronnel lingered at the house until about 7:30 p.m.
